The following bar chart illustrates the relative performance
of each of the machines submitted to the benchmarking process. For each
machine the average time to complete each of components of the bench routine
is plotted as the first 5 bars (smaller is faster). Overall performace
is inversely proportional to the total time taken to complete the tests,
and is plotted as the 6th bar (pink). The actual height of the "overall"
performance bars have been scaled to that of the fastest machine, which
for the sake of clarity has been set to a value of 10. The details for
each machine labelled A to V are shown below the chart:

Figure
1: Matlab 5.x benchmark scores. The type
and number of processors (UltraSPARC, Intel Pentium (P2/P3/P4)) in the
tested machine is shown along the bottom axis. Additional details about
each machine may be found in the table below:

Key
to Table 1: 2.6 = Solaris 2.6, 7 = Solaris
7, 8 = Solaris 8, I = Irix, L=Linux (R = RedHat, S = SuSE), W=Windows
95/98/ME, NT = Windows NT, NT5= Windows 2000/XP. All amounts of physical
RAM and swap space (virtual memory) are given in megabytes (Mb), where
known the type of PC ram is given: SD = SDRAM, RD = RDRAM. Graphics cards:
3D = Creator 3D, G200/G400 = Matrox cards, DF = Diamond Fire, E&S
= Evans & Sutherland, EL = Elsa, GeF = NVidia GeForce, TNT2 UL = NVidia
TNT2 Ultra. Type of disk interface is given e.g. IDE, SCSI, or IDE/SCSI
mix, where known the interface type is given: 66 = UDMA66, 160 = SCSI
Ultra160. *Matlab version ("SV" = student version). The
final column, "score", is the un-normalised result from the
following sum: (1 / (Sum of average times for each of the 5 tests))*100.
